Incense for Breakfast, Episode 1: Golden Buddha by Vijayshree Fragrance Incense Review

Gokden Buddha incense review

Incense for Breakfast, Episode 1 Golden Buddha

For a few weeks now I have had the dream of creating daily YouTube content around incense and positive thoughts.  So I created Incense For Breakfast where we can take a little time in the morning, think about our lives and set powerful and positive intentions for the day while we talk about incense.  Hopefully you will light an incense too.  ☺

The first episode reviews Golden Buddha by Vijayshree Fragrance.  If you click on the picture above it will take you to our YouTube channel.  Or you can click here.  Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it and playing with the Golden Buddha incense. You can find the incense at violetandcompany.com

Flowers in My Garden

I don’t feel like writing a poem,

Instead, I will light the incense-burning vessel

Filled with myrrh, jasmine and frankincense,

And the poem will grow in my heart

Like flowers in my garden.

~According to a student of Hafis (15th century A.D.)

Violet and Company took about a year off, maybe a little more, while I remade our webstore.  Now it is finished and the happy time of writing on the blog is back.  This week we will start a series looking at frankincense, one of my favorite resins.

Here is a fun frankincense fact-during the times of the Pharaohs, the ancient Greeks and the Romans, most people didn’t know where frankincense and myrrh came from.  Many stories floated around such as they were guarded by winged serpents.  These things were held in secret in order to allow the countries where the frankincense and myrrh trees grew to have a monopoly on the market, making the resin trade very lucrative for them.

There are social issues like gangs, there are drugs at school, there are the timeless issues such as friendship, popularity and love and there are bullies.  Top it off with stricter requirements and getting through school is not easy and an accomplishment to be celebrated!  Enjoy your summer!

Amber Resin on sale!

Amber Resin on sale this week, $3.50

This Amber resin is a rich, dark color and the smell is incredible.  We did an experiment this week and put some of this amber in an aroma lamp with water and it smelled great!  Also wears well on skin and burns great on charcoal.

Morning Star Lavender Incense on sale!

morning star lavender 50Morning Star Lavender on sale $2.85!

If you have never tried Japanese Incense, now is the time.  Nippon Kodo’s Morning Star Lavender infuses the room with a delicate lavender aroma.  The sticks, like all Morning Star, have no wooden bamboo core, they are pure incense.  Each package of incense comes with a little ceramic incense holder.  The sticks are delicate, perhaps 3 mm thick, but they burn slowly. And if they should break, no matter, they burn at any size!  We like standing 5 or 6 of them up in a little dish full of sand.  It is a visual and olfactory treat!

Beautiful just because

Don’t forget to sing your song today! Light some Ma Laxmi Dhoop incense and get creative, get spontaneous, do what you do best!
