Joy

Joy comes in many shapes and sizes every day.  Sometimes it is just a delight in seeing a friend or hearing favorite music.  Whatever brings you joy, do it and do it often.  When you are happy and joyful, others are more inclined to be so too!  Joy is a gift you give to yourself and to others around you…

Scent helps to bring joy and change perspective.  Try taking an incense break or smelling a favorite perfume or essential oil.  Keep a little bit of resin in your desk at work or your car and do some scent therapy whenever needed.  It can really make a difference in your day!

See Yourself in Everyone

Buddha in Earh Touching Mudra

“Continue practicing until you see yourself in the cruelest person on Earth, in the child starving, in the political prisoner. Practice until you recognize yourself in everyone in the supermarket, on the street corner, in a concentration camp, on a leaf, in a dewdrop. Meditate until you see yourself in a speck of dust in a distant galaxy. See and listen with the whole of your being.

If you are fully present, the rain of Dharma will water the deepest seeds in your consciousness, and tomorrow, while you are washing the dishes or looking at the blue sky, that seed will spring forth, and love and understanding will appear as a beautiful flower.”

Making a Change~one person at a time

I spoke to a customer who bought the Nag Champa bulk 250 gram today.  He called me Ma’am and I told him he could just call me Ellen.  He explained that he liked to treat everyone with respect, so he says, “Ma’am and Sir”.  He said that he is an old hippie and he raised his kids to show respect, not be prejudiced and be accepting of all people.  He said that in the 60’s he believed that the world would change into a loving place and he thought it would have happened by now.  Then, we both agreed that it is happening little by little, through people like him, who raise children, love their spouses, give to their friends and create this change one person at a time. ❤

To Fear Not…..

“When fear knocks on the door, courage opens it and sees no one”  ~Italian proverb

I once listened to Les Brown, the motivational speaker, speak about fear in a church in Oakland, California. I’ll never forget one of the lessons he imparted on that day: FEAR stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. Fear is like a group of little barking dogs. If you run away from them, they will chase you for the rest of your days. If you confront them, they will run away. The scariest moments of our life never actually happen. It’s commonly understood in psychology that many dreams are “dress rehearsals” for what we anticipate will happen in our lives. This is in large part because life offers no dress rehearsal; on the contrary, the dress rehearsal is your life. What fear truly means is we doubt our ability to handle what’s coming down the pipeline.

The antidote for fear, then, is trust, love, and self-confidence (the literal translation from Latin of which is “trust with ourselves”). All of these come from one common source: faith. Just as you will never “prove” to yourself that God exists, you will never prove that you are worthy, or capable, or of value. You have to just take this leap of faith. Then, and only then, will you stop focusing your energies on all the false evidence to the contrary. Those who seek to prove their worth say, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” What they don’t realize, and what I issue to you as a challenge this week, is to do the opposite.

How do you handle those moments when you feel afraid, or your self-confidence is shaken? Tell us about it in the comments.

Rose Oil and the Biggest Risks

“Without risk, faith is an impossibility.”  ~Soren Kierkegaard

Large bottle of Pre-Blended Rose Essential Oil from Violet and Company Incense, $15.50

Sometimes, in this life, kindness, understanding and compassion is the biggest risk we can take.  It is sometimes easier and much less scary to be: professional, cold, in a hurry, calculating, distracted, angry, disgruntled, begrudging, offended…the list could go on and on.

What kind of risk do we take when we meet each other face to face with no pretense, just person to person, unafraid to be delighted, hugged, overjoyed, surprised, hurt, happy, giggly, amazed, appreciative, compassionate, successful?

Well, we take a big risk.  Being open, happy, gentle and compassionate is not easy but, luckily, like the Fool in tarot, if we step off of that emotional cliff with faith, we are almost always greeted with a soft landing and incredible rewards.

For centuries, Rose oil has been associated with love, drawing love and joy.  Auroshika Rose Oil at Violet and Company incense is pre-blended essential oil of rose, just right for taking those big risks that bring the biggest rewards.  Put a little on and see if it changes the course of your day!

Ma Laxmi Dhoop-The Goddess of Wealth

Ma Laxmi Dhoop-The Goddess of Wealth, is a traditional Nepali dhoop made by Traditional Nepali Dhoop Pvt. Ltd, Nepal.  This dhoop is made in the traditional masala method, using essential oils, spices, flowers and aromatic herbs.

Ma Laxmi is the goddess of wealth, and this dhoop, although it has the earthy aroma of traditional tibetan incense, has a light flowery side.  Flowers are a perfect offering to the beautiful, kind heart of Ma Laxmi.  Kindness, love, compassion & gentleness go hand in hand.  They are what true beauty is made of.

Violet and Company Incense imports this Dhoop directly from Nepal so it is always fresh.
